Association plans provide individuals access to the benefits typically available to larger organizations. By coming together and leveraging their collective bargaining power, association members gain access to more affordable, comprehensive coverage.

Associations provide members additional, exclusive benefits and resources, including access to their dental and vision plans. Association benefits include health, wellness, personal, and business benefits.

NCD by MetLife

All NCD by MetLife plans are paired with a membership to the National Fitness and Wellness Association (NWFA). The NWFA monthly membership fee varies depending on the dental plan selected, and is included in the members' monthly billing.

The NWFA provides non-insurance benefits that help members and their families and pets stay strong, healthy, and active.

VSP Vision

All VSP Preferred Vision plans are paired with a membership to the NWFA as well.

Our NCD by MetLife dental plans give you access to dentists through the MetLife Preferred Dentist Program (PDP). Dentists participating in the PDP have agreed to limit their charge for a dental service to the Maximum Allowable Charge (MAC) for such service.

That means that if a certain dental procedure's MAC is set at $400, your in-network dentist has agreed to only charge that amount. If your plan's coinsurance is set to cover 80% of that dental procedure, then the plan will pay 80% of $400, which is $320.

If you choose a dentist who is not in the MetLife PDP network, we'll still pay benefits for covered services. However, the percentage your plan covers is based on the MAC amount, not the total your dentist charges.

If your out-of-network dentist charges you $800 for the same dental procedure as above, but the MAC for your plan is still at $400 and your coinsurance is 80%, your plan will pay 80% of the MAC, not the total charge.

This means your out-of-network costs could be higher, because anything above and beyond the MAC is not covered by your plan, and would be your responsibility. In this example, your plan would pay 80% of the $400 MAC ($320), and the remaining $480 would be your responsibility.

Out-of-network dentists have not entered into an agreement with the PDP to limit their charges. You are always free to receive services from any dentist you choose without authorization, but choosing an in-network dentist will likely save you money.

No. The membership to the association is what allows members to gain access to the rewards and benefits, including the dental or vision plan itself.

Many of our dental plans cover implants, but there are some specific guidelines about when and how those implants can be covered. For more clarity, reach out to your Account Executive, or to Agent Support.

Yes! Visit the NWFA page for a detailed breakdown of all the benefits and discounts available at each level of membership to the National Wellness and Fitness Association.

Yes. Our NCD by MetLife dental plans have a missing tooth clause. The missing tooth clause does not apply to congenitally missing teeth. To get the specific details about what that means for your clients, reach out to your Account Executive, or to Agent Support.
